Gold Observatory Chronometer no. 57519

Case: Yellow gold Four-body, "bassine", polished, gold hinged cuvette. Dial: White enamel, Breguet numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary sunk seconds. Blued steel "spade" hands. Movement: 19''', Nickel, 19j, bi-metallic Guillaume-type "Crausaz" balance with blued steel balance spring with Breguet overcoil with polished steel kidney piece, signed "Haas Neveux & Co., Geneve, 57519, Fab Suisse", numbered on main plate. This unusual ebauche was almost certainly made by Wehrli Freres, and it was also sold to Patek Philippe (no. 1913 - 198050 for the 1924 Observatory trial 774 points, re-adjusted for 1925 846 points) and Vacheron Constantin (no. 1911 for 1924 Observatory trial 626 points). Blued steel “spade” hands. 45 mm (20'''), rhodium-plated, half-plate, 19jewels, straight line calibrated lever escapement, anibal-brass Guillaume compensation balance with special alloy. Breguet balance spring. Signed on dial, case and movement.Diam. 53 mm. Notes An important watch with Crausaz balance. This watch was adjusted by the Wehrli Frères for the 1910 [Shurely 1913??] Geneva Observatory timing contest, where it won the third prize with a total of 246 points. "
